Living in Telluride is made better by the myriad activities available for residents and their guests. One of the most established and revered of those activities is golf, and Telluride has two incredible clubs to choose from.
Telluride Golf Club
If you’re looking for a breathtaking golfing experience, look no further than Telluride Golf Club. This sprawling sanctuary covers 6,574 yards with an 18-hole par-70 course.
Operating since 1992, the Telluride Golf Club is set on the Turkey Creek Mesa and is surrounded by the Sneffels Range, the San Sophia Range, and Mount Wilson. It also has stunning views of the San Miquel Range that are punctuated by fir and aspen forests throughout the course.
At an elevation of 9,417 feet, it is one of the highest golf courses in the world, which its designers kept in mind. The naturally rugged terrain of the course was formed by Telluride’s glacial retreat thousands of years and great care was taken to ensure the ecosystem was protected. The grasslands and forests surrounding the course are home to a wide range of wildlife, including elk, bear, lynx, and other animals.
In fact, in 2004 Telluride Golf Club became one of the first golf courses to receive the prestigious Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary certifications. They were awarded this honor because of their strict adherence to the criteria of water and biodiversity conservation, reduced chemical use, water quality management, and habitat protection.
Members of the club enjoy access to one-of-a-kind amenities that are not available to the public, including preferred tee times, special discounts for guests, access to ski passes, and much more.
If you’re interested in becoming a member, contact the Telluride Ski & Golf Resort at (970) 728-7302.
If you’d like to experience the course before you become a member, public tee times are available to the public between 12:00 and 6:00 p.m. Click here for more information.
Divide Ranch & Club
Established in 1993 with 7,039 yards of play, the semi-private Divide Ranch & Club has an 18-hole par-72 course. Stunning views greet you throughout the course as you tee off at the foot of the San Juan Mountains with a view of Mount Sneffels to the south.
With a slope of 128 and a 71.8 rating, you’ll feel like a champion when you complete the course. You’ll also be greeted by beautiful fir forests throughout that feature juniper, ponderosa, and pinion pines.
The club itself features year-round activities for everyone so you can be active even during the offseason. For more information about becoming a member, contact Divide Ranch & Club at 970-626-5284
