9 Things To Do in Telluride in the Summer
Even though Telluride is best known as a skiing and snowboarding destination, summers here are just as exciting. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of nine events and things to do while you spend your summer here. Whether you’re into exhilarating adventure or family-friendly events, we have something for everyone.
1. Mountain Biking
Did you know that Telluride has countless biking trails and old dirt roads surrounding it? All of these trails make Telluride the perfect place to test your skills, from beginner to advanced. You can even book some tours and leisurely enjoy your ride while you take photos of some of Telluride’s most scenic areas.
2. Water Walking
Water walkers courses are fun for all ages! Get in a giant ball and glide across the water with the whole family.
3. Bungee Trampoline Jumping
Another great activity for the whole family is the bungee trampoline at the Telluride Adventure Center. Four of you can jump at a time as long as you’re all between 30 and 200 lbs.
If you feel like taking a more traditional water adventure, you can paddleboard along the San Miguel River while you develop your stand up paddleboard skills. Your trip will be tailored to the number of people in your party and the equipment is provided.
Snowmelt from surrounding peaks fills the San Miguel River with millions of gallons of water, giving adventurists class II-III+ whitewater. Local guides will expertly maneuver your group on a truly exhilarating half-day tour.
6. Rock Climbing
Telluride is home to some of the best climbing terrain in the world. Whether you’re ready to start learning or already have experience, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to experience all that the San Juan Mountains have to offer. Guided tours are available for novice to advanced skill levels. If you’re looking for the ultimate climbing adventure, try out the Via Ferrera.
7. Horseback Riding
Experience some of the best views in Colorado while riding atop a horse on the trails of Circle K Ranch. You can book a shorter ride of two hours or take a longer ride of three or more hours.
You really haven’t lived until you’ve experienced the top-rated Telluride activity of paragliding. If you’re able to run for a few seconds to take off and then again to land, you’re able to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Start your day off right with an hour(ish) flight above Telluride.
9. Fly Fishing
If you’re looking for a slower–but still enjoayble–activity, book your fly fishing walk & wade or float. There are numerous options for some trout fishing that will keep you busy and relaxed.
