The Ah Haa School is dedicated to the development of the creative spirit. A focal point for all ages, the school offers short workshops, independent study by the hour and extended classes in cooking, painting, drawing, languages, ceramics, photography, writing and more.

P.O. Box 3525 The Pinhead Institute is one of 107 nationwide Smithsonian affiliates and is involved in educational programs, field studies, exhibits and research. From May 20-June 19, the Institute offers a course designed to train and certify stewards of Bear Creek.

Telluride Academy provides quality summer enrichment for children and teens. This private, non-profit organization caters to local and visiting families alike, offering programs in geology, first-aid, the environment and a variety of outdoor recreation.

Housed in the historic miner's hospital, the museum is restored and open to the public. New exhibits honor Telluride's mining past and the museum's original calling as a hospital. The museum store sells historic books and black-and-white photos from the region. Summer hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Institute is a non-profit with a mission inspired by Wallace Stegner, "to create a society to match the scenery." Toward that goal, the Institute is involved in protecting the San Juan River basin; the Greenbucks program; and Radio Futures, live radio theater with original scripts.

The Telluride Repertory Theatre Company presents its annual "Classics in the Park," a Shakespeare play free to all.

The Univeristy Center's goal is to insure that residents of the San Miguel Watershed communities have access to post-secondary education, cultural enrichment, and profressional training taught in the context of this unique environment.

Public Library

In addition to thousands of books, the Wilkinson Public Library has full Internet access, books on tape, DVD or VCR movies, magazines, young adult and childrens sections, a garden terrace and more. Visitor cards are available with a $20 deposit. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m, Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

First-run movies and avant-garde specials are shown nightly in downtown Telluride.

The Horizon Program opens the climbing wall at the high school to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 10 p.m. The wall is also available on some Saturdays.
