Agent Biography
After growing up surfing the beaches of Florida , Mike Shimkonis decided to give higher ground a try. Settling in Colorado in 1987, he first lived in Vail before migrating to Telluride nearly 15 years ago. Prior to working with Telluride Properties, he was a senior sales and marketing executive for Vail Resorts and the Telluride Ski & Golf Company. Mike is closing in on nearly $100 million in sales ranging in scale from affordable housing for locals, to luxurious alpine getaways for part-time residents. In 2002, he was appointed as a board member for the renowned Telluride MountainFilm Festival and Tour and served as the organization’s president from 2003 until September 2007. He recently completed a complicated fundraising program for MountainFilm and the Trust for Public Lands having transformed 10 acres of developable mining claims into open space, while donating his commission, as well as the purchase proceeds, to MountainFilm. Mike also served on the board of the Telluride Association of Realtors, was on its Professional Standards committee, and acted as the driving force behind formulating the association’s First Time Homebuyer’s Fund. He resides in Mountain Village with his wife Jennifer, their son Nicolas and their border collie, Mesa.
